Lenovo 3000 N100 Audio Driver Problem on Windows 7

After installing Windows 7, everything was fine except sound. It seems like sound drivers were installed correctly but it wasn’t.

You did try to download drivers from lenovo site and install them but shit(!), software installer says that “I have no idea about your operating system”.

Here are the instructions (applies Soundmax, no idea about Realtek (Xavi reported it works for Realtek too, thanks Xavi!)):

  1. Don’t worry. :p
  2. Download driver.
  3. Installer will extract the package the path you choose (default is C:\Drivers\WIN\Audio).
  4. Open Device Manager.
  5. Go to “Sound, video and game controllers” section.
  6. Select currently installed device and right click.
  7. Select “Update Driver Software”.
  8. Select “Browse my computer for driver software”.
  9. Select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.
  10. Click “Have Disk” button.
  11. Select the location where you have extracted package (#3) and browse “<path>i386\Vista” folder (amd64 for 64bit).
  12. Select the inf file.
  13. Click “Next”

And you are done!

    Have used your guidelines to get my 3000 N100 0768 AFU Soundmas to produce sound with W7 Ultimate.  Am trying to use it with Stage Research SFX V.6 for theater sound effects.  Requires ASIO compatibility.  Cannot find a driver anywhere to work.  If I use ASIO4ALL_2_10_English, i get no sound at all again.  Not only for the SFX software but no sound for anything else.

    Steps 4 till 13 didn’t work for my 3000 N 100 model after loading Win 7 on it.
    I just double-clicked the setup.exe at C:DRIVERSWINAudio and it did everything for me in place of everything after Step-4.

    After step 12 Windows always tells me that the proper driver is already loaded and will not let me choose this vista drive – device is happy, but I am not as there is no sound. any other ideas?

    In step 12 (Select the inf file.) which inf file do you use. i tried all of them with no joy. In the vista folder I have HDA, HDACPC, HDAHP880, HDALC, HDARt, HDAsony (all .inf files). Plus, whichever one I select, it gives me a list of 6 or so drivers which are all called Realtek High Definition Audio, which I presume is the same as the above list.

    You saved my audio – thanks a million! Audio works great now; your instructions were perfect. One update & one clarification:
    2. Download driver: the site is now at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67400
    4. Open Device Manager = Start > Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Device Manager (under “Devices and Printers”)

    i have lenovo N100 0768-BNG with realtek audio didn’t work on windows 7.
    i tried the driver on that page and it gave me a blue screen and i had to reboot in safe mode and remove it again.

    any ideas that help on installing the audio driver.

    Sana çok teşekkür ederim. Yukarıda yazılanlar kadar varsın. Lenovo’nun destek vermediği bir konuyu çözmüşsün. Windows 7 yi bugün kurdum ve senin çözümüne kadar resmen başımdan aşağı kaynar sular döküldü. Sanırım 2 bilinmeyen driver daha var ama onları da keşfetmeye çalışıyorum.

    Erhan – thanks so much….you don’t know how frustrating not having sound was. Now, do you know how to get the VOLUME BUTTONS to make the VOLUME graphic appear? I mean when I press the buttons the volume is going up and down. I just can’t see the graphic unless i click on the sound button.

    post to cure my problem with my 3000 N100 0768.

    Basically, delete all of the Windows 7 HdAudio.sys drivers as described in the blog, go into Device Manager and remove the sound device (uninstall), then use Erhan’s blog to finish up the install, and all should be good.

    Nope, didn’t work for my 3000 N100 0768-35U. I had actually already tried this, but stumbled upon you site while doing a Google search for the problem. Tried it again, per your directions, and still no sound. May have to go back to Vista, unfortunately.

      Actually I don’t remember how I solved it but it should work with the drivers either nvidia or lenovo released.

      There was no officially released driver for Windows 7 and I used Vista drivers instead.

    Now, everything is OK but the fingerprint, camera and other devices are not working! hope to find a solution

    I have tried every option available, even LENOVO help desk was’nt able to provide a solution to this problem.
    I now have a N100 running windows 7 with full audio and I am a very happy man.
